Windham County Consumer Debt Attorney Discusses Receiving Multiple Harassing Debt Collection Calls Daily
I am often asked as a Windham County Consumer Debt Attorney about what to do if you are receiving multiple harassing debt collection calls daily. Under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, it is unlawful for a debt collector to make several calls to you per day or to call you at inconvenient or inappropriate hours. Generally this means that they should not be calling you before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM. In addition, in certain circumstances they should not be calling you on your cell phone unless prior permission has been granted. I advise clients as a Windham County Consumer Debt Attorney that calls such as these and other inconvenient calls such as to your office when you’ve told them not to call you are a violation of your rights and you have the right to sue the debt collector and collect damages.
