Are Debt Collectors Allowed to Call My Cell Phone?
Another question I often get as a Hartford County, Connecticut Attorney from clients is, I’m getting calls on my cell phone from parties I don’t know including debt collectors. This activity can be unlawful. Calls to your cell phone that aren’t previously authorized are illegal under something that’s called the Telephone Collections Practices Act. Calls to your cell phone can also be illegal if they contain a pre-recorded message or are done utilizing an auto-dialer system. These are just some of the types of illegal types of cell phone calls my clients have experienced in connection with their debts.
