Connecticut Debtor Rights Lawyer Discusses Satisfying a Debt

Should I write “paid in full” on the check and will this protect me from further litigation?

Connecticut Debtor Rights LawyerQuestion:

I’m satisfying a debt in which litigation was threatened. I’m giving this individual, whom I don’t trust 100 percent,a check for the full amount of the debt.

Answer:

You would normally want the other party to sign a release that makes it clear that the payment is in full satisfaction of the debt and that they waive any and all further claims in connection with the debt. I recommend you hire a Connecticut Debtor Rights Lawyer to draft the release and protect yourself. The “Paid in full” does not indicate what debt is paid in full.

Are you looking to satisfy a debt in full?  Contact dedicated Connecticut Debtor Rights Lawyer Eric Foster for guidance.
